One longtime Republican lobbyist offered a two-word prediction for Dr. Jacksons chances of Senate confirmation: Harriet Miers.
The VA is the second largest agency in the government, but this poor fellow, while he might be a competent physician has no managerial experience in running such a massive agency. Maybe the Senate will give the good doctor a thumbs down and force Trump to find a serious nominee who has the experience to run that huge agency.

(6,473 posts)she withdrew because of her moderate positions in the past including moderate positions on abortion as the first female president of the Texas State Bar-which led to a revolt on the radical right-she didn't have the votes from her own party. She would have been more moderate than any Republican nominee in many decades--and instead we got Alito. Miers actually was a moderate Democrat before political expediency caused her to switch parties as many trend setting female Democrats did in Texas as Texas turned solidly Red. She supported Democrats like Lloyd Bentsen and Al Gore. Her mentor was trail-blazing female attorney Louise Raggio who was a solidly Democratic legal star in Dallas and was prominent in female rights. Her past was the reason the far right rallied against her nomination

The perfection and excellence of his smooth running and well oiled machine of a West Wing will resume forthwith and before you know it.

(3,335 posts)nomination hearing, there was a White House cabinet meeting and the Dotard introduced him and mentioned all the things that he had already accomplished with restructuring the VA in just ONE WEEK. In ONE WEEK, he had cleared out the entire VA Patient backlog, reorganized the old appointment system, hired new staff to replace Obama's incompetent old staff, and cured Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). And Trump was serious, making up all that bullshit. (Okay that wasn't his exact list, but it was a similar long list of bullshit accomplishments that would have taken a year, and I just shook my head and thought, "he thinks everyone is as stupid as he and his children are." Having worked for DoD for 27 years as an Auditor and a Contract Administrator, and served 5 years in the Army, I thought to myself, "Trump lies about everything". It would have taken him a week to just get a badge, an ID Card, a parking sticker, and get himself input into the Federal Government payroll system so he will get paid. And the guy just smiled and nodded while Trump was telling all these lies. I wouldn't have said anything about the new guy, but Trump was bashing President Obama in the process and talking about the mess that they had inherited from him, and that already this new guy had worked miracles.
