Sounds crazy but I just bought a, what I think is an obscure hair conditioner at Walgreens...one I have never bought before. Now ads for it are plastered throughout my Twitter feed.. just seems way too coincedental

(62,444 posts)1. Question
1. Do you have a Walgreens account tied to your cell number, and
2. Do you have a cellphone number connected with your twitter account?
If you answered yes to both questions, then go read the Walgreens user agreement.

How do you like the conditioner?

Like it. Why would they waste money on advertising for something just bought?

(62,444 posts)7. Why did you buy it?
Ive never developed too many connections with hair products ever since they stopped selling Prell in a tube. Except maybe Dr. Bronners (which is a lot better now with the hemp oil in it)
But they know you never bought it either. So if you picked it up on impulse or not paying a lot of attention, Id guess the idea is to cement the brand impression.
On the other hand, I wish there was a I already bought it button, because you buy one thing from that category, or so some online window shopping, and they hammer you for months.
I mean, just look at the banner on this page. How many 50 gallon drums of personal lubricant do they think Im gonna buy in one year?

I laughed out loud and scared the cat!

As I was reading the questions I see they don't provide a dash button. Marketing fail on their part.

(62,444 posts)3. And finally...
Did you use their in-store Wi-Fi (or have you used it before and have it on auto-connect)?

(17,235 posts)13. If you have a Walgreen's reward card and used it for that purchase,
there is your answer. Tied your email address to your Twitter-Sh'tter account. Boom! Actually I think Google AdWords is involved with linking your purchase to the ads you are seeing. If you are bombared with the same ad, Google is abusing and charging their customer Walgreens for each and every ad.
