Meaning that those who do the necessarily training, have a CWP, and have bought the right kind of pistol with the right kind of ammo are authorized to concealed-carry on campus. Strictly voluntary.

Most people taking either side in this fight have no idea what the words mean that they are using. Some are just uninformed; some are proud and insist on remaining uninformed because ignorance is knowledge, and basing our actions on perfect knowledge is always the best course.

Those districts are in Texas, by the way. To date none of those teachers have discharged their guns improperly, nor has there been a shooting in schools where it's announced teachers are concealed-carrying. It's a meaningless statement because it's what you'd expect from the statistics. It's like saying the "weapons free zone" that my district put up years ago has successfully deterred gun violence at their schools. For everybody's being threatened, no incidents is exactly where the odds place us for the last 10 years and the next 50, even if nothing else is done. Similarly, my lucky coffee mug keeps asteroids from hitting my workplace; it must work because, well, to date no asteroids have hit it.

That last snark had two edges: One cut at those who say we need armed teachers in school to prevent violence; the other is aimed at those who say that having armed teachers would produce an incessant bloodbath.
