Is Trump being forced to pretend he is opposed to Putin's policies?

He was persuaded to go along with support for military operations in the Ukraine, so long as it could be kept secret. He did not want to piss off Putin.

But, his opposition to Putin's policies seem to be more tilted to saving himself from a Russia investigation that is getting closer and closer to his door.

It is all about PR. He wants to appear to be distant from Russian policies toward the US and the rest of the world, when in reality, he still supports Putin and is loathe to criticize him for anything.

But, as the footsteps get closer to the Oval Office, the more he must look like an adversary of Vladimir Putin. It is called self-preservation.

He has no loyalty to anyone, ever. I'm surprised he played nice as long as he did.
