Watch it again. Note the non-compliance. Note the restraint. Then tell me you can't understand why people kneel and have to state out loud that Black lives matter.

We really need to tighten up the rules of engagement for civilian police.

...we have a system in which functionally separate 'rules' for black individuals and non-black individuals have allowed some police to act with deadly force against black citizens - justified by police, prosecutors, and grand juries based on the officers' fears - fears triggering the use of deadly force by police which doesn't happen to occur for officers with white individuals they confront at anywhere near the rate of blacks they interact with.

The only remedy with any hope of dissuading these behaviors is prosecution and convictions. That's why people kneel.

...that's what I believe.

I have real and ever-present, growing fear of cops - especially the young ones. I wonder sometimes if people realize just how much of a personal issue this is for me, and folks like me. It goes to the heart of my citizenship, my constitutional rights. It plays with my self-image, self-worth and makes me necessarily, but unproductively defensive against law enforcement.

We're watching all of this crap directed at us and it's a wonder we're still civil and engaging.
