https://talkingpointsmemo.com/muckraker/florida-voter-fraud-case-rulingThe Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF), a group led by the conservative voting activist J. Christian Adams, had sued a Broward County elections official in 2016. It was one of several lawsuits the group has brought suggesting mass voter fraud. This case was the first PILF lawsuit to go to full trial.
U.S. District Judge Beth Bloom said in her 60-page opinion opinion Friday that one of the main pieces of evidence that PILF presented in the case that there were more voters on Broward Countys registration rolls than estimated eligible voters was misleading.
Making that comparison is a common tactic PILF has used to bully local election officials into conducting more aggressive voter roll purges, even as elections experts have said that comparing the two sets of numbers is apples-to-oranges.
Bloom went into significant detail in outlining why she agreed with those experts. . . .

I'm reminded of Nixon and his Committee to Re-Elect the President, otherwise known as CREEP. Usually, they are a bit better at choosing their acronyms.

(58,618 posts)They are trying to get around the fact that there isn't a lot of evidence of what they are arguing. Actual voter fraud is only a little more common than hen's teeth.
Their usual tactic is to just purge a shitload of names off the lists for ginned up reasons and force legitimate voters to jump through hoops to get re-registered.
Nice to see some court precedence being set. The burden of proof should always be on those who want to deny people's rights, not those who want to support them.

(13,883 posts)when it comes to felons that have served their time. They want to get their voting rights back but the Scott crew are dragging their feet to get them their rights back. Their actions are the worst actions of any RED state... About 10,000 are waiting now. There was a good program on NPR in So Fla about this yesterday..
