I knocked on 65 doors tonight

and 55 last night. At this point I'm talking just to voters registered as Democrats, Greens, Independents, and non-affiliated. So far there's been good feedback - education and healthcare running ahead of jobs and the economy as top issues of concern.

from Lawrence Block, although it may not be original there. Get Off Your (er, rear) and Knock On Doors.

I probably need to do that myself, but I kinda hate too. I hate to bother people and don't wanna have doors slammed in my face.

I need to call the state party and make a walking list from their data.

In 2008, my county voted for McCain by 16,791 to 13,255 to 162 for the Libertarian, 116 for Reform and 263 for Nader. A total of 30,587 votes. So I need 15,300 to win.

For Senator, my county voted for the Republican by 16,643 to 11,933 to 705 (L) and 517 (R). For Congress for the Republican by 15,478 to 12,956 to 649 (L) to 606 (R).

I do find it curious that there were 898 voters who could not bring themselves to vote for either candidate for Congress and 789 who did not vote for a Senator.

But counting on 12,000 Democratic votes, then I need to get 3,300 Romney voters to also vote for me. Those are the people I need to talk to.

when NAVs are collapsed, and 4,000 Independents, Greens and NAVs, so with the right messaging targeted to precincts I ought to be able to win this race. The key is early money raising while I'm still under my opponent's radar. That's why I'm hoping some DUers will hit my ActBlue page.
