The Hill to end attendance at WHCA dinner without 'major reforms'
The Hill said Tuesday it is pulling out of future White House Correspondents' dinners without major reforms to the event following the controversy that erupted over comedian Michelle Wolfs performance at this years dinner on Saturday.
The Hill, which has participated in the White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA) dinner for many years, does not plan at this time to participate in the event moving forward, James Finkelstein, The Hills chairman, wrote in a letter dated Tuesday to Steven Thomma, executive director of the White House Correspondents Association.
In short, there's simply no reason for us to participate in something that casts our profession in a poor light. Major changes are needed to the annual event, the letter states.
Finkelsteins letter criticized Wolfs performance as out of line and said that The Hill hoped the dinner could get back to talking about the importance of the Fourth Estate without the kind of ugly sideshow that completely overshadowed the event this year.

(31,109 posts)One to tell jokes that are funny and based in truth, one that tells jokes that are not funny and based in lies.
The former will almost always be a liberal, the latter will always be a conservative.
You see the best humor is based in truth, thus you rarely see a good con comedian.

You guys are obsessed with Trump,""Did you use to date him? You pretend like you hate him, but I think you love him."
"What no one in this room wants to admit is Trump helped all of you," "He couldn't sell steaks, vodka, water, college, ties or Eric. [But] he has helped you sell your papers, books, and TV. You created this monster, and now you're profiting off of him."
And then the killer...she reminded them that Flint Mich. still doesn't have safe drinking water. A reminder that maybe this was the sort of story they should be covering instead of all-trump all-the-time.

(2,431 posts)... when he pronounced "the media" to be the enemy of the American people. Michelle Wolf was not "inappropriate." Certain sectors of the media are very unhappy with her remarks about... the media ("You created this monster and you're profiting off of him" , so they pretend to be offended by setups to jokes she told about public figures -- while leaving out the punchlines.
"Wolf attacked Sarah's appearance." No, she attacked Sarah's non-stop, brazen lying.
"Wolf told a horrible joke about abortion." No, she told a dead-on joke about Elliot Broidy, who paid his pregnant Playboy-model mistress to have an abortion, then had to resign, er, um... I mean "spend more time with his family."
Some members of the media really are the enemy of the American people. And because of Michelle Wolf, they are now very easy to spot; they're the ones who are demanding we hold a comedian to a higher moral standard and a higher level of accountability than we hold the amoral President and those who enable him.

(25,241 posts)Let them sit it out. They won't be missed. But I bet they'll watch the coverage on CSPAN.
Somebody should take Wolf's routine and repurpose it to be a fake routine. Instead of talking truth - they should modify it so it is all lies. That's what the WHC's are used to. They get that every daily briefing by SHS.
