Florida Real Estate Mogul, Claims To Be 'Personally Responsible' For George W. Bush's 2000 Victory

This is amazing.

David Siegel, the Florida real estate mogul behind timeshare company Westgate Resorts, claims that he was "personally responsible" for George W. Bush's 2000 presidential victory. When the subject comes up in a newly released documentary, Siegel declines to elaborate, stating, "it may not necessarily have been legal."

Wow.

Maybe he will confess on teevee for all the world and we can then indict and imprison the whole criminal gang.

Then again, we do need to find out how they did it, and prevent it from happening in November.

I could live happily with a couple fewer RW Cubans in Congress.

I think they even did a documentary on him and his wife and how excessive they spend. It was called "The Queen of Versailles". Such a disgusting group.

And I don't doubt he had anything to do with the election rigging.

On a personal note, my sister-in-law worked for his company for many years. She was a waitress at Sizzler right outside Disney World. The working conditions there were deplorable. The food was substandard and the management treated the employees like garbage. I won't go into everything, but just take my word for it - never eat there!!

And that's the film in which he makes the claim (I just saw it Saturday). He seems to want to be a big shot more than anything else, so I would not be surprised were it an empty piece of bluster on his part.

He also seems to regret it... he remarks that if he hadn't perhaps we wouldn't have had the war in Iraq.

Why would you admit to this, is he nutso? Possibly since he thought w was a good choice.

I don't want to trivialize the Holocaust but this is like saying, I was responsible for the final solution.

If it was possibly illegal, has the statute of limitations run out for prosecuting? What's he doing for 2012?

Taking credit for this means he can share in the blame for:
9/11
Afghanistan
Iraq
Abu Graib
Guantanamo bay
and more.

Treason would be a long stretch from knowing what Bush would do through priori knowledge of events like 9/11. We can't even prove those steps now.

A financial supporter of Republican candidates—“we’re not in politics but we’ve gotten a lot of politicians elected,” he says—Siegel takes credit for putting George W. Bush into office.

“The biggest impact [I made] on the world was getting George W. Bush elected” president the first time, he says as plainly as if he were talking about the balmy weather outside. “I got him 2,000 votes in Florida.” Bush won the state by 537 votes to beat Vice President Al Gore in the controversial election settled by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Pressed to explain how he personally delivered the winning margin, Siegel doesn’t give specifics, only saying, “It was legal.” But he acknowledges now that he has some remorse for helping Bush become president. “I feel bad for it now.”

He seems like the type who makes shit up just to be impressive.
The documentary, however, is really great and well worth watching.
