Infowars Host: 'Civil War Is Inevitable' If Liberals 'Continue To Exist'

Owen Shroyer, a radio host at the conspiracy theory outlet Infowars, warned listeners yesterday that he believes “civil war is inevitable” unless liberals reckon with “their own mental issues.”

During his “War Room” program yesterday, Shroyer said that his audience was right that “we have to bury [liberals] politically and culturally.” He added that as long as liberals “continue to exist,” they will “destroy this country” and “destroy this culture.”

“These people are such phonies. I’m sorry. I hate saying stuff like this. I have to do it. It’s my job,” Shroyer said. He continued, “I have to tell you, unless the left comes to grips with reality, unless the left comes to terms with their own mental issues—I mean honestly folks, I hate saying this. I really don’t want to say this.”

After all that apologizing, Shroyer said, “I just feel like civil war is inevitable. I’m not going to sacrifice my country to avoid civil war. I’m not going to sacrifice my future. I mean, it’s just insane.”

He is just plainly wrong in ANY historical context.

Change is inevitable. Progress is inevitable. I would merely ask him, "Show me any modern culture, that uses technology, that has remained the same since its founding".

I know that there are groups of human beings that are still largely hunter-gatherer societies, but that is because they live in remote areas and are basically not part of the modern world. For the rest of us, the vast majority of us, yes we hold on to some cultural, religious, and societal traditions and norms, but most of them have been adapted and transformed.

Christmas - adapted from multiple cultures and traditions. It used to not be celebrated in the US. It wasn't until the 1940's & 50's that it became the Norman Rockwell looking holiday.

The nuclear family - While nuclear families have existed throughout human history, the idea of one man, one woman and their offspring is a relatively modern invention.

Homosexuality has been accepted and then rejected in many cultures throughout the centuries. It has not always been "against family values".

Marriage - The way it is presented in America is a modern invention.

In the context of "mental health". The right is trying to sell this mass delusion of some mythical time in America, when things were great and everything was perfect. That has NEVER existed, yet they spout it and are impervious to information to the contrary.

There has always been some resistance to change, a struggle between people who want to progress rapidly and those who are not ready for change, especially major change. These guys however, are definitely rushing headlong into dangerously maladapted territory.

They are addicted to their guns and they want any excuse to be able to use them. That's what Alex Jones and Dana Loesch do best - stir up the craziest of the crazy. But in their minds they think they represent a majority of the people. In real life, they represent a very small, lunatic fringe faction and any sort of armed conflict would be extremely one sided. They always forget that we buy guns and serve in the military too.
