How do you think it will end for Trump?

I don't know. His lying attitude reminds me of Nixon, but I don't know what will happen in the end. I thought I had an idea, but it looks like no Republicans are standing up to him at this point.

I truly think he believes that if he just sat down with Mueller, he could bullshit his way out of this. I think with this nonsense about a Nobel Peace Prize being floated by his suckups, he thinks he's invulnerable. So regardless of how it ends, I think he's going to be very surprised that it didn't end with his face being carved into Mount Rushmore.

But if I had to bet, I'd go with resignation. He wants to be in control of everything, and he doesn't want to be impeached. He will try to find the most face-saving way out of this when he actually realizes how bad it is.

There are no responsible Repugs in leadership to do the right things, unlike in Nixon days.

We MUST retake the House to bring the realistic hammer of Impeachment (whether actually done) to speed things along. I am not in favor of actually taking that step. Takes too much time and energy away from correcting the worst policies IMO. Would rather kneecap him via the House and a scrabbled together vote count in the Senate (less hopeful of retaking that), so that his worst instincts are veto proofed.

Pence coud be as bad or possibly worse without the emotional chaos.

Otherwise, he can lie and delay and ultimately make some sort of face-saving deal that gives him some false comfort and saves his precious Ivanka from harm.

As much as I would like to see him in prison, I would much more love to see him totally impoverished and in court forever.

Even he doesn't know until he actually does it. The question is what will Mueller, the Supreme Court, the GOP House and Senate, his lawyers and his staff do? As long as there is Ryan and McConnell there will be no more investigation into the moron. He will finish his term, and since nothing has been done to prevent a repeat of 2016, he could very well get reelected. The only way his base would turn on him is if the economy and the price of gas/oil skyrockets and hurts them directly. The Repubs are in control. Party Over Country is their motto. Money is the god that they worship.

Supreme Crt will be sometime next year. Then he is going to claim 5th then a likely democratic house is going to begin the impeachment process which Trump and the GOP will try and stop.

Some in the GOP are just a dirty as Trump right now and probably could not last through the first year of investigations on a Democratic House so they are doing what they can to stop the investigation. Its kind of like they sold their soul.

What is really scary is the possibility the Trump team has the ability to influence the supreme court. I am not sure who is really funding Trump but it might be Putin making his move to control his side of the world then yeah I can see him trying to influence at least 1 of the Supreme Crt Justices.

Now I am saying this as if Mueller does not provide another ounce of evidence but I think he already has tons and will get a lot more before they show their cards.

Mueller prosecutor vs Trump the 21st century crime boss is what this story should be.

and announce he will not seek re-election, also citing a massive conspiracy against him.

I think of the old saying, "If wishes were horses, beggars would ride" regarding the belief of so many here that if they really, really believe that justice will come to Trump, it will happen.
Quite simply, in human history justice has not come for millions of individuals no matter how much they deserve to get it or receive it. This is not a 1950s western where the good guys always win and the bad guys pay the price. A sad and simple possibility is that nothing bad may happen to Trump. Sometimes that's just the way life works out.
I remember Fitzmas when so many on the Left were bragging and strutting about how Bush and Cheney were going to be frog-marched to The Hague.
Let Mueller do his job and build his case brick by brick and temper the sometimes over-the-top exuberance over every new little thing and this time, for the sake of the nation, show up and vote for the Democratic candidates, imperfect though they may be, because in virtually every election the winner will be either the Democratic candidate or the Republican one. Let's make it the Democratic candidate because each one of them counts towards the Democrats controlling whatever body they are elected to.

It’s hard to say. Trump has never had to pay a price for his sins and crimes, and he may just continue to avoid responsibility until the day he dies. He’s very clever that way. His children are another matter - they have no redeeming qualities, and the Trump brand may go down the toilet with their generation. Gawd I hope so - that family is a virulent disease.

What would be awesome is if Traitor Tot was actually indicted (notwithstanding DoJ's policy, which isn't a law) for various crimes of conspiracy, money laundering, tax evasion and obstruction of justice, flies away in a helicopter under threat of impeachment just like Nixon did in 1974, and is eventually tried and convicted. But the gutless GOPers won't do anything, so I don't know how this ends. Maybe all those Big Macs and KFC meals will take care of the situation.

If cornered by indictment or impeachment, it would not be crazy to think this unhinged conman will call out to his "Second Ammendment" friends to encircle the White House.

He wanted his Eric Prince Army for just such a contingency. Maybe Putin and Netenyahu would send him help.

Any use of Federal agents or the Army would be characterized as a military coup.

They’re choosing party over country, Trumpism over the rule of law. So the wheels of justice grind far too slowly.

However, I’ll admit that, when it comes to being a lifelong Democrat, my pessimism is somewhat reflexive. I’d be happy as hell to be wrong on this, and would be overjoyed to see 45 and his pirates get what’s coming to them— prison time.

Mecham has a new book due out in a week, The Soul of America, The Battle for our Better Angels. Heard him interviewed on NPR today and he said Trump reminds him of the first Prez Johnson and of McCarthy even more. That McCarthy really got how to manipulate the fears of Americans. He convinced me.

LBJ thought putting the McCarthy hearings on TV would expose McCarthy and freak our Americans and we could get rid of him. Maybe we just need to get Trump on TV in a trial type setting and it will work. This is where I think Trump is clever. He'll never let him get in a position like that. Or maybe the country is too far gone and even the McCarthy hearings wouldn't upset people anymore.

... by his own party.

The GOP is playing The Big Stall right now, trying to hold together and present a united front in the lead-up to the midterms, in hopes of mitigating the damage they know is coming.

Once the votes are in and the damage is done, Trump is expendable - in fact, he's the Republican party's greatest liability as both parties gear-up for the 2020 GE.

The GOP knows that they've been losing elections due to Trump's toxicity - and they know things will get progressively worse over the next two years. They'd much rather use those two years selling the re-election of President Pence than trying to sell the re-election of a man who continues to be a disaster on a daily basis.

I'm sure there isn't a single Republican among the powers-that-be in the GOP who doesn't know for a fact that Trump will never be re-elected - the numbers aren't there now, and they certainly won't be any better in 2020. And speculation as to how much more damage he will do to the Republican "brand" between now and the 2020 GE surely falls into the "holy shit!- can we survive this" category.

I think we should all keep in mind that at this point, a "President Pence" represents everything the GOP can rally their voters around - the Evangelicals see him as the good Christian they want in the WH, and there won't be any necessity to defend his tweets, his erratic behaviour, his persistent lies - and no porn stars to be dealt with.

The common cry against the above theory is that the hardcore Trump supporters will never accept his ousting - but as we've seen, those supporters can be convinced of literally anything, and very easily so. If you can sell Republican voters on the idea that a pussy-grabber was ordained by God to lead a nation, you can sell them anything.

I am expecting a major sea-change after the midterms, when the GOP no longer have any reason to
support the man who is ruining their "brand". Republican voters may be incredibly stupid - but the PTB in that party can be quite astute at reading the writing on the wall.

OP, although I don't see him going to jail, and although I know that thuglicans are the party of treason, racism and of not giving a damn about this country or most of it's inhabitants who don't seem to want to hold his feet to the fire. And although I know that the Supreme Court is a 5-4 leaning thuglican court (Should they have to make a ruling on whether tRump as POTUS would not have to comply with a Mueller subpoena). I say this knowing that the GOP will be using their voter-suppression tactics yet again. I say knowing that our voting system is highly compromised and in some places broken, and that voting the bums out won't be easy, and I say this knowing that there may be more ruskie interference in our next set of elections this fall ....

I feel that some HIDEOUS Karma is gonna catch up to his racist, treasonous, lying, fat, sexually-abusing/sexually-assaulting ass.

At 71, the HOG'S evil, rotten, and unhealthy mentally and physically. He has fewer moons LEFT to see. He's stubborn, brash, mouthy and mean. But he's also a coward. I'm not sure if he'll say he's unhealthy and will be "forced" to leave office per his physician's recommendation, or he'll just run away like the coward he is and say that his mission is done, and that he's been the BIG success he knew he'd be, it's time to "move on."

Bottom line: I don't feel that he'll serve all 4 years let alone 8. In any event, he won't be able to run fast enough to escape KARMA, which is catching up to him. I'm saying all of what I'm saying being a person at 57 whose always looked @ everything from a skeptical point view all of my life.
