Rudy Giuliani Backpedals, Tells Fox News Trump Reimbursed Money But 'Didn't Know' What It Was For

Rudy Giuliani is attempting to do damage control late Wednesday night after he made the stunning revelation that President Trump reimbursed his personal lawyer Michael Cohen the $130,000 that was paid to Stormy Daniels during the election.

While sitting down with Sean Hannity, Giuliani touted that no campaign finance laws were violated because Trump’s own money was involved, an admission that even shocked the Fox News host.

Well now, Giuliani is giving his remarks some context. Giuliani spoke with Fox News Chief White House Correspondent John Roberts, who took to Twitter to echo what he told him.

Giuliani told Roberts that Trump did in fact reimburse Cohen the $130,000. However, he added that the president “didn’t know” what the money was used for and that Cohen simply described the payoff to Stormy Daniels as “expenses.”

White House Deputy Press Secretary Hogan Gidley appeared on Fox News after Giuliani’s appearance on Hannity and told Shannon Bream that the White House had “no idea” what Giuliani was going to say prior to the hour-long interview.
