Holy crap Ryan's chief of staff told Father Conroy that he was being fired because he was Catholic

I am amazed. Can you imagine if Pelosi hand done this? The commercials in places like upstate New York, Staten Island, and the Midwest write themselves.

He hasn't been excommunicated. He attends Mass and participates in the sacraments. I think the Church has more authority than you or I to decide who is and who isn't Catholic.

Does not mean they are following the church's teaching in their public lives

He is an open admirer of Ayn Rand, a militant atheist and inspiration to the Church of Satan. His devotion to Ayn Rand's philosophy has consistently guided his political career.

I do not believe his political actions are consistent with the church's teachings, and I do have a right to make this statement.

because those lawmakers didn't vote the way the Church wants them to on women's reproductive rights. Ryan, as far as I know, hasn't been denied communion at any time on account of his political stances.

I'm just trying to make the point to another poster that it's silly to pretend that Ryan isn't Catholic. Of course he is. He may be a bad Catholic, but that obviously doesn't disqualify him from membership in the Church.
