Who is Angus King? Should we be worried if he wins the Senate seat in Maine?

http://www.electoral-vote.com/evp2012/Senate/Graphs/maine.html

According to this King is polling way ahead of candidates from both parties. If he's another Bernie Sanders then we should support him, but I know Maine gets some nut jobs elected up there (ie Gov Paul LePage) and don't want to find out this guy is some hardcore right-wing tea party nut job.

1. He's neither Bernie nor a tea party nut. He was a Dem before he went Indy, and is pretty

centrist from what I recall. (I am basing this on what my Dad seemed to think of him, since I wasn't really paying attention to political stuff at that point.)

I wonder if the Dems will end up backing him in the general election like they do with Bernie Sanders? I mean with the current dem candidate only getting 7% we want to make sure we get a good candidate that can beat the republican.

From what I`ve observed over the years, he`s bright, judicious, principled. I`ve always enjoyed listening to his ideas. Thankfully, he`s no Gov. LePage.

Angus basically is a Dem and good buddy of Pingree. We will not let a LePage happen again by splitting up votes. That is why we nominated a zero Dem. Dems will vote Angus. He has the big name recognition here.

We are gonna need that Maine seat since we stand to lose a few senate seats.

IIRC.

However I don't think it would make any sense for them to accept him. If they already had a majority, why give him perks in return for an unreliable vote on issues? And I very much doubt he would cast a deciding vote in favor of Mitch McConnell.

I think he is likely to end up with Democrats, whether he necessarily wants to or not.
