"43 people shot in Chicago since Monday, one explanation is the weather"

“We were on track for a big reduction in violence, but 43 people have been shot since Monday. One explanation is the WEATHER...April was cold, but since May started, it has gotten warm...”

And... my mind quickly fills in the absurdist blanks. Guns drop out of the sky in the heavy rainstorms? Are they carried in on the blustery winds? Grow in the ditches alongside the other sprouting plants?

No, it’s because...wait for it..
“People go OUTSIDE.”

You can see how humidity and heat in the city can raise stress levels and tensions. Tempers trigger more easily. And it may sound stupid, but yes, people are out. That means various people that are more likely to be violent are out and about, easily triggered, and often by others that are in the same mode.

It's not that guns just fall out of the sky.

But people carrying the guns are more plentiful outside and they're easy to flare up into violence.

“It’s hot out, better get the bulletproof backpacks out Charlie.”
Like grab your umbrellas, grab your winter coat. The weather channel could start adding a little gun logo to their weather icons, after the boots and rain gear but before the winter coat and mittens.

“Afternoon bulletshowers are expected, so keep those vests on and your head down.”

Indiana for one. They are responsible for running guns into a city that prohibits them. They are like bartenders who won't cut off drunks.
