Amanda Knox: 'We Can't Slut-Shame' Stormy Daniels 'Because the President is a Slut Himself'

On Friday, Amanda Knox noted how there’s a certain irony about President Trump‘s supporters who attack Stormy Daniels on the basis of her being porn actress. Knox joined NBC’s Megyn Kelly to talk about The Scarlet Letter Reports, her new documentary series about women who try to take back their own lives after being publicly vilified by tabloids and social media. The series is likely to framed around Knox’s experience with being an objectified media sensation, particularly when she was accused of killing Meredith Kercher in 2007.

As Knox told Kelly about how she wants to talk with people who were “slut-shamed” in the media, the two of them agreed that Daniels has been a target ever since she went public with her allegations against the president. As Kelly noted the reasons why Daniels contradicted herself at first over her relationship with the president, she also said that “just because she is an adult film star doesn’t mean she isn’t telling the truth.” Knox expressed her agreement by recalling that Trump cheated on his wives and had plenty of sexual misadventures before getting into politics.

“We can’t slut-shame Stormy Daniels anymore because the president is a slut himself. Why are you nostalgic for the time when we could slut shame the woman and make her shut up?”

Knox and Kelly continued to talk about how prolific body-shaming causes division and dehumanization across society. Kelly recalled all the tabloids while Trump was attacking her during the 2016 election, and Knox agreed that the negativity can really hurt people.

“That is what Monica Lewinsky has been saying all along – you are feeding the beast by consuming these other women, and the way that you stop it is you stop supporting the negativity out in the world and you support a kind of journalism that is objective, with integrity, and also takes compassion and context into the equation.”
