. . . After seeing this cartoon, I remembered the movie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2.
Character named "Ego", VERY apropos. Nothing less that the entire frickin' Universe was enough for him.
Orangina won the "prize". The Presidency of the United States of America, once considered the most power position in the world.
But it is not enough. Nothing will ever be enough. The only escape from the sucking, light-absorbing Black Hole of his soul will be death.
Not trying to start a religious discussion, here, but I toy with certain ideas in my mind. I imagine that when we die, all the flaws and faults, fear and ugliness of our mortal selves are burned away. We become one with the light at the center of all existance and we see all things in their connectedness. We realize that there is no "other" and we are one. And the heart at the center of our higher self breaks with compassion and mourning for the damage we have done to others and the healing that was left undone.
Forgive the fluffy and magic thinking, but when I am feeling my most charitable, that is the "punishment" that I want to see inflicted on those who care so little for others. I want their hearts broken with compassion and fellow-feeling.
When I am giving vent to my less noble self, I want Trump to suffer ultimate humilation and desolation. Preferably before he has the chance to make even more people suffer to feed the gnarled, mold-blighted little twig of his self-esteem that is hidden away inside the huge, sneezy, pollen coated puff ball of his ego.
BTW--All that over-written prose above-- that's why we need cartoonists
