The support from franchise operator Anthony Piccola for the New Hampshire Pride Fest comes as the restaurant chain continues to be criticized for an executive's comments about gay marriage.
Piccola said Wednesday that the Chick-fil-A culture and service tradition in its restaurants "is to treat every person with honor, dignity and respect -- regardless of their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender." It followed a statement he made last week that said the Nashua restaurant at the Pheasant Lane Mall has gay employees and serves gay customers "with honor, dignity and respect."
Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy told the Baptist Press last month that the Atlanta-based company was "guilty as charged" for backing "the biblical definition of a family." That unleashed a flood of criticism from gay rights groups and others, who have called for boycotts and efforts to block the chain from opening new stores.

(5,756 posts)I appreciate this one individual's willingness to do the right thing. BUT, he runs a franchise. That means a portion of his profits go back to Dan Cathy and company at corporate. He buys the bags, cups, napkins, food boxes with the company logo on them from corporate sources. Another revenue stream for Chick-Fil-A corporate and Cathy and company.
Then Dan Cathy and the others in management at corporate turn around and take some of that money and donate to ex-gay ministries, to anti same-sex marriage campaigns and groups that would be happy to see homosexuality outlawed. They'd be happy to drive us all back into the closet.
So I'm truly sorry this guy has a franchise from bigots. He may be a very nice guy just trying to run his business. However, I still could not patronize his store knowing some of my money works its way back to Dan Cathy.

(89,247 posts)donating sandwiches is ok. but that alone wont make up for the money that will go to that guy who will give it to anti gay groups.
