Denis Ryan will be paid compensation by the state of Victoria

Former Australian detective Denis Ryan was driven out of the police force in 1972 when he tried to bring a paedophile priest to justice.

Now almost 50 years after he was ordered by superiors to drop the case - and deprived of a police pension - Mr Ryan will receive compensation.

The 86-year-old man was recently awarded an undisclosed sum by the state government of Victoria.

"When I heard the news, I nearly jumped out of my socks," he said.

how many others out there have been forced to "look the other way" or lost their positions because of sincere beliefs backed up by good evidence?

Congrats to Officer Denis Ryan - so sorry for the price you paid for having integrity..................

PS: Wish we had some people in Congress that had some of that integrity - the world would be a better place.....................

We do have some, virtually every one is a Democrat or Independent. Among republican'ts, you can't find any.

We just need more Democrats and the integrity level of the government improves.
