(53,475 posts)Blanket condemnation of all straight black men is suddenly a thing?
Hell no. Get a life. Any sentient being knows black men and black women are targets of institutionalized racism, not to mention being the target of a certain demographic segment of accusatory males.

I don't think he's going Kanye here, he seems in touch with reality.
Thought I'd add to the effort to define all the ways we are all so very different from each other! Not to mention the importance of clarifying that we can never unite!

(28,151 posts)People are capable of speaking for themselves. The statement isn't mine and I'm not saying this or any statement is right or wrong.
I will say this: I was struck by the contrast he highlighted between the publicity difference between violent deaths by cops of black men and black women. I didn't know the names of the women he referred to, did you? All the male names he cited were ones I *did* know.
Regardless of one's view of the overall statement, there were some valid points.

(53,475 posts)I still take issue with his tone and broad-blanket accusation against all straight black menas if somehow we are responsible for the MSM's lack of coverage for the murder of black women by racist cops.
Seems to me that and other urgent societal battles are out there to combat without insinuating that all black men are somehow complicit in misogynoir.
