Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsFolks, there are other top notch people who can replace Schneiderman.
The investigations will continue. I'm not worried at all. What's with all the doom and gloom?

(115,570 posts)In a state that size there will be dozens of assistant/deputy AGs who are doing the actual work and probably know these cases better than Schneiderman does. The AG is the supervisor and the media mouthpiece, but he's not the guy in the trenches. The show will go on.

(62,444 posts)My goodness, that would mean there are possibly more than a dozen serious crimes in that state each year!
I shall take note of what a chaotic place it must be.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,570 posts)is handling all of the state's legal matters all by himself, and that therefore he's totally indispensable. That would be a terrible job. Fortunately that's not how it works.

(62,444 posts)...such that it would require the full time attention of more than one person to prosecute crimes which occur there.

(6,972 posts)I have to admit, I was nervous as HELL until I found out that the NY State Legislature was NOT controlled by thuglicans, but by Dems.
So, I'm no longer nervous, because they will replace Schneiderman with someone who will I'm thinking be top-notch who'll continue working with Mueller.
PHEW.

(3,363 posts)Dems have a large majority in the House, which means they have a majority overall.

(44,967 posts)They all get together as one big happy group?
Or does each pick a candidate?

(3,363 posts)This does put the breaks on the investigation for awhile and complicates things.

(61,533 posts)I assume that other people in the AG's office are doing the work.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,570 posts)There's a whole crew of deputy AGs who are doing the actual work - the research, the document reviews, all the stuff lawyers have to do to prepare a case. Schneiderman (or any AG) is the front man but he's not indispensable. The show will go on. The agency has "over 650 Assistant Attorneys General and over 1,700 employees, including forensic accountants, legal assistants, scientists, investigators and support staff serve in the Office of the Attorney General in many locations across New York State." https://ag.ny.gov/our-office
