not really political . from the article

<Nelson's tour bus rolls into town Aug. 29 for a private show at the Dallas Bull in Tampa. Nelson and fellow country singer Jerry Jeff Walker will be part of a benefit show for Got Your 6, a nonpartisan organization that wants to "bridge the civilian-military divide." >

Some seem to separate the issues of performing and politics... or believe it sends some other message...

That was why he played the gig, why he plays any such concerts.

Nelson is a major liberal activist and the co-chair of the advisory board of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, which is in favor of marijuana legalization. On the environmental front, Nelson owns the bio-diesel brand Willie Nelson Biodiesel, which is made from vegetable oil. Nelson is also the honorary chairman of the Advisory Board of the Texas Music Project, the official music charity of the state of Texas.

a nonpartisan organization that wants to "bridge the civilian-military divide." Doesn't sound all that nefarious to me.

are playing at BOTH the Democratic and Republican conventions. I assume Willie drew the short straw, or they were afraid that the Teabaggers would lynch Flo Rida on the spot.
