.....that ultimately saves this nation from total destruction.
It's one of those little delicious twists of irony.

After significant investigation, we have discovered that Mr. Trumps atty Mr. Cohen received approximately $500,000 in the mos. after the election from a company controlled by a Russian Oligarc with close ties to Mr. Putin. These monies may have reimbursed the $130k payment.

(52,200 posts)well, the fact that stormy's an adult entertainer, particularly one with an interesting stage name, certainly helps add to the media attention.
but in and of itself, it was a consensual affair, unrelated to a workplace, no harassment allegations, etc. cheating on his wife, sure, but nothing illegal in and of itself.
instead it was donnie's inept and heavy-handed way of trying to manage his image by lying about everything, paying others to preserve his image, probably laundering money from russians, probably accepting bribes from backers (cohen and/or broidy and/or russians), and very likely ignoring laws (campaign finance, disclosure, and maybe even tax law).
and then, of course, structuring the money movements and documents so as to try to obscure the truth.

(43,174 posts)I really didn't have much interest in the Stormy Daniels affair itself--actually the image of Donald Trump having sex was just icky in general--but it clearly has opened a door to the greater scandal of constant Russian monetary investment and assistance to Donald Trump. Which in turn leads to issues of collusion by the Trump campaign with the Russians in the election.

(52,200 posts)if obama or biden or whoever paid hush money to conceal an affair, that would be career-ending already for a democrat.
gary hart's career got trashed just for having an affair, daring the press to follow him around, then getting caught. no hush money or anything, just the affair was enough.
but then add hush money.
then add that hush money likely constituted a campaign law violation.
then add that the money may have initially come from someone other than donnie -- cohen, broidy, or... ***the russian mob***????
omg a democrat would be so toast! franken got pushed out for hovering his hands a foot away from an armor-clad woman!
money coming from other sources makes those initial funds bribes and/or illegal excess campaign contributions and/or illegal foreign campaign contributions, and possibly tax fraud (assuming donnie didn't pay taxes on the bribes).
and this isn't even touching on the obstruction of justice or other aspects of russian interference, the soliciting of foreign espionage on americans, etc.!
