As too payment to Cohen from friend of Putin: it took place in N.Y. Being

investigated by prosecutors there. Trump can't pardon there can he? Or does the investigation go back to Mueller? It was $500,000 from an oligarch paid after the election.

my area of expertise. I get so frustrated that only lawyers really understand the rules. I wish this had to do with teaching or art so that my training and experience would make it more simple to follow.

Not an expert, but bribery of federal officials, federal campaign violations, fec disclosure violations, etc. are all federal crimes.

It's conceivable that the Russian money could be considered income to Donnie taxable under New York law, so mayyybe there's a tax evasion problem. But even that's a stretch, imho.

Trump cannot pardon State crimes. Only Fed.
The Cohen crimes in NY will stay in NY.

The only thing changed is the AG, & all those working on the NY/Cohen, Trump cases under NYAG Schneiderman remain in place.

There is a deadline however, with the AG election, & you can be sure Trump/Cohen will stall this out until a permanent AG is seated.

They know Trump has zero pardon power in NY State, & that is key to the whole game being played there.
