Cocaine Mitch had the last laugh.
Team Mitch, the official campaign Twitter feed of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), made it snow after former coal baron Don Blankenship lost the Republican primary for U.S. Senate in West Virginia on Tuesday.
Blankenships campaign was marked by repeated attacks on McConnell, and at one point he called the senator cocaine Mitch in a campaign ad. The nickname stems from accusations that a ship owned by the company of McConnells father-in-law was used to carry 90 pounds of cocaine. No charges appear to have been filed, according to The Washington Post.
That led to this blow from McConnells campaign account after Blankenship came in third:

(11,884 posts)And Mitch has a father in law running a company involved in the drug trade, well I did read they caught one of his ships that had I believe it said 7 million in cocaine found on it. SO , is he involved? Is Mitch steering laws through Congress designed to help him? Investigations ? That could happen when we take both the House and Senate control back. Did Mitch or his wife get payoffs to help protect him too? Investigate it Congress.

(33,643 posts)If McConnell actually did this, I'd have say ... I hate him just ever so slightly less ... cause much as I hate to admit it, that's a EPIC troll ... if he really did that.
Which ... he didn't, right?

(14,522 posts)I will confess. I am the one who sent him that story. He seemed like the kind of guy who would go for it. A week later he put out the cocaine Mitch ad.
Why did the media quash the story? Nothing about what an investigation turned up. Was there an investigation? Mitch's inlaws gave him millions of dollars are these 3 things connected?
Do I think turtleface had anything to do with the smuggling. No. But those questions should be answered. What better way is there to get that info out there, than by a member of his own party?
