A nice kid takes his little sister to the prom. They go to Waffle House afterwards, which is sad in its own way. Waffle House calls the cops? For what reason? So, this young lad gets man-handled by a big white cop?

WTF? I hope there's more video of this entire incident.

Perhaps a boycott should be called until they stop calling cops on black people just living their lives.

I know I won't ever go to one again.

In the South, you can’t sneeze without hitting a Waffle House.

So as a matter of simple logic, if something happens—whether it be bad, good or mundane—it will likely happen at a Waffle House.

Their waffles really are delicious, though. No one does waffles better than a Waffle House.

racist caller/employees gets someone killed.

They've already gotten a black woman roughed up and her breasts exposed over a petty plastic fork/spoon incident. And now a black prom goer manhandled by an abusive cop.

Fuck their damn waffles.

Or an unfortunate side effect of inherent prejudices of some who happen to work there?

That's a key distinction.

Again, ubiquity.

One instituted policy changes and nationwide employee training while the other company seems to condone the incidents with their inaction.

Again, fuck their waffles. People, especially black people and other POCs need to stop patronizing that company until the incidents of siccing police on their customers for bullshit stops and the company acknowledges the problem and does something about it.

Who the hell are we now, we just accept mistreatment because the company has a lot of outlets? Ubiquity my ass, go to the competition or do without.

MLK and Rosa Parks fought against the ubiquity of the racist bus company by boycotting...and thousands followed and did without (they walked to work) and the company and the country was forced to change.

Have we lost that sense of injustice in 2018 because of good waffles?

And sometimes go crazy with all the whipped cream and toppings that distract from the waffle itself.

Not that it's bad, but I prefer the less airy, simpler and richer American style waffles, and I have to say Waffle House does a pretty good job with those.

Sorry, didn't meant to derail this serious topic like this.

I say this because they don't have any waffle batter. All their griddled cakes are made from the same pool.

It's more of a problem of who might happen to be working at any one particular Waffle House.

And there are no Waffle Houses in Southern California.....furthest west they are found is Arizona, I believe.

Kinda sucks for you. But then again, you don't give us any In and Outs over here, so all's fair and good.

We miss that here back East.

For a long time there were no Starbucks or Coors beer either east of the Mississippi. Coors was a hippie, rare cult-like item out here for quite awhile. If you brought some back or a friend did you were golden. The rare Coors was worshiped because I think it had to be kept refrigerated. Of course, once Coors was widely available the fad died out quite a bit and it became like any other beer.

Waffle Houses are a largely southern thing. The food is cheap, fairly good and they get people in and out fast. There are no doubt a lot of bigots working at certain ones like there are anywhere else but I never noticed any institutionalized racism. However, that's just my impression from the few I am familiar with. But I have seen AA's eating or waiting to eat there and everyone was smiling. There were certainly plenty of AA's working there.

Like I say, I doubt racial animus is a corporate policy.

I am sick of these racist, out-of-control cops who think they don't have to abide by the law.

I blame Trump for emboldening people like this and making them think that they can behave this way with no repercussions. This country is getting completely out of control!

Anthony Wall, 22, said he was at Waffle House after taking his 16-year-old sister to prom.
He said he and his sister argued with Waffle House employees and the police were called.
Wall did not elaborate on what the argument was about.
It was unclear who called the police — other customers at the restaurant or Waffle House employees.

It was also unclear why Wall was choked or slammed by the officer.
The video — which features strong language — does not show anything before the physical altercation.
But Southerland said that is not how his officers are trained to behave.

Wall was charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct for arguing with the Waffle House employees, according to ABC11.

"I wish people would not blow things out of proportion and not let one situation create any additional situations," Southerland said.
The department and District Attorney Ernie Lee are investigating the incident May 5, Southerland said.
