...to steal the election, what happens next?
by "undeniable", i mean even Trump's surrogates will publicly admit the bulk of the evidence is un-fake.
what happens after that?
remember: no way a Republican house will vote to impeach, no way a Republican senate will vote to remove

(23,944 posts)if "undeniable" is too much of a stretch, maybe "substantial" or "potent" would be preferable diction?
regardless, i probably should have clarified that it's hypothetical anyway, since, as you say, after several decades of commercial airflight and NASA photographs, there are still those among us who have difficulty accepting that we live on a spheroid.

(5,524 posts)I wasn't trying to undermine your premise. In a round about way, it is my cynical way of answering your question. Some will never believe it. We can only hope to get a large enough majority so that the others won't matter.

Second, isn't it clear that the Republican leadership and Trump are on the same page? Isn't it pretty obvious by now that Ryan and McConnell and the whole lot of the are just as knowingly dependent on dirty Russian money and ratfucking as Trump is?
Ultimately, it's going to be state prosecutors, elections run at the state level, and pressure from foreign governments that bring the Trump edifice down. Mueller will do his part, but the idea that the Republicans will become so revolted by Trump that they'll abandon him en masse left the building a while ago.

(13,014 posts)Federal indictments would end up in the Supreme Court- where they could rule that Trump can defer criminal proceedings until his term expires. It is unlikely that a trial would proceed while he is in office.
Impeachment is vanishingly unlikely with the current House, and conviction unlikely in this or the next Senate.

(22,976 posts)They exist in a parallel reality where 45 is their Sun God. Look at how effectively theyre pushing back now. Most Republican senators and representatives have now finally thrown in with 45. And the rule of law in our government has been so devalued by Republicans that they arent even interested in keeping up appearances anymore.

(13,081 posts)And Republicans wouldnt do shit about it. Theyd rather lose their control of Congress than lose their jobs in Congress, and common Trumpsters dont give a shit about anything at all except sticking it to the libtards.

(8,138 posts)but Trump himself may escape liability.
He's such an idiot the people around him probably don't tell him anything. They just try to use him and his wealth.
And even if we do take the Senate, it still takes 67 Senators to convict, and that is unlikely to happen without some pretty dramatic revelations (which could happen!).
