Senator Bernie Sanders will spend a full day this week in Washington fulfilling his duties as a U.S. Senator, according to spokeswoman Dinah Bordom. He will make a predictable speech, and has pledged to pronounce the words millionaire and billionaire in such a manner that people outside of New York, New England and the states of the old Confederacy can understand him.
The Senators liason to the Hispanic community, C.C. Señor, said that Sanders would be ordering a taco for lunch from the Senate floor to show his solidarity with the Drummers. Protests of discrimination from the musicians union were quickly put to rest when this was corrected to Dreamers. Queries as to what toppings Sanders would order for his taco were referred to his Press Secretary, Lotta Bordom, who is Diana Bordoms sister. Bordom said she wasnt authorized to speak on the record, as Senator Sanders was a big picture guy, and not one to favor makers of green salsa over those who made guacamole. C.C. Señor asked that all further inquiries be addressed to the Press Secretary, commenting that where theres information on Senator Sanders, theres Bordom.

(54,302 posts)I've had a work week from hell, cramming four countries into four days, and I'm sick of seeing the same posts on this board every time Sanders changes his underwear. My camel's back has broken.

(28,749 posts)Then you never have to see a Sanders post again.
And yeah its Thursday, weve all had a long week.

DFW
(54,302 posts)I once replied to a post on the home page, and it turned out to have been from the Sanders group, which I wasn't aware of. Some angry Gruppenführer didn't like what I posted and banned me from a group I never would have looked for in the first place. He left the party after the primary season of 2016, so I don't know if it still there or not. I know the DU member who banned me is long gone, but she disappeared even before the election, so her reason for being on DU in the first place was no mystery.
R B Garr
(16,950 posts)That group is still there, so it's a mystery why this forum is spammed with his daily itinerary. Then again, it might not be a mystery...
Great thread idea. So funny! Thx

(30,481 posts)Of course you are correct. But a little wit in satire goes a long way during these crazy times. I fully understand that is in the eye of the beholder and that not all good people on the left see through the same lens when it comes to Sanders.

I really really like the person I was responding to and their contributions here. They are a solid Sanders/Clinton supporter and really stay grounded in their message about Sanders.
I like the op and was just backing the other poster up as I understand why it rubs them the wrong way.

Its nothing to do with Bernie and everything to do with the insipid devotion by a few posters who post almost on a daily basis thinking that they are building enthusiasm for Sanders when in fact they are doing the reverse.

(54,302 posts)They have been good friends for decades, and Thom had him on his Air America show every Friday morning. It's a close personal friendship that did not diminish when Sanders was elected to the Senate. I don't see turning off that friendship with the click of a dial in the name of objectivity, especially when the media outlet Thom works for is not in the business of objectivity in the first place.

Edited this because my complaint was over the top. Took out "nasty", "what's your deal" and "shouldn't be posted," since on reflection I don't feel that way about the post, and I do find it funny.

(16,950 posts)"tenor." I don't see anyone posting the everyday movements of other politicians. After awhile, everyday movements get to be TMI when they are spammed.

R B Garr
(16,950 posts)"targeting" Bernie. I'll let you read it again so you can see where you went wrong.
JCanete
(5,272 posts)turning every single thing Sanders does or says as news worthy. I agree with it to boot. The millionaire billionaire thing feels massively reductionist and the "breaking...Sanders will be in Washington for a full day this week" is not at all simply criticizing his posters here. It has a connotation.
R B Garr
(16,950 posts)spamming the calendar doesn't equate to accomplishments. It's funny, certainly not targeting.

DFW
(54,302 posts)It was not directed at Sanders at all. Bernie Sanders doesn't fill up this board announcing it as earth-shattering news every time he blows his nose. My post was addressing the fact that there are those who do.
JCanete
(5,272 posts)the lobbyists in Washington, and that was one of the first things I noticed, as well as an appreciative poster who responded near to the top, which is a function of me considering the board being posted on and the threads we typically see here.

(54,302 posts)Remind me that my posts need monitoring lest I open Pandora's box, right?
All I was pointing out is that some--and they are mercifully few--on this board seem to feel an obsessive need to give us a running timeline on everything Bernie Sanders does and says, and announce the time and direction of his every footstep. I think if Sen. Sanders himself were aware of it, he would tell them to cease and desist, as they are distracting from the issues he cares about most.
At parents' meetings at school, I remember that the parents who were liked least were the ones who insisted that the rest of us hear about it in detail every time their kid tied his or her shoelaces into a perfect bow knot. Thy were devoid of humor, too.

For that matter, "The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest" was one of my favorite films (the Swedish original, that is). Even if that is only an oddball title that doesn't resemble the original at all. The original title is "Luftslottet som Sprengdes," or "The Castle in the Air That Got Blown Up," a title that I wouldn't at all mind being used about the Trump administration.
