If Ollie North is the head of the NRA, it's time to welcome Pete Rose to the Baseball Hall of Fame

On one hand, you have an arms dealer. On the other, Rose admitted publicly to betting on baseball games and other sports while playing for and managing the Reds.

One gets rewarded, one remains denied. Explain that to me.

So... while you may have a point, that fact diminishes my really caring one way or the other.

...it was the first analogy / metaphor that came to me before this morning's first cup of coffee.

Some must atone while others are rewarded. In terms of "quality human beings," I think North and Rose are just about equal.

the rules and lied about it, and then rationalized about it. He consciously brought it on himself.

I'm not advocating for Rose at all. It's the idea that one screwup gets elevated while another continues his walk of shame.

North also broke the rules, lied about it and rationalized about it. In a perfect world, Rose would remain on the outside of the Hall of Fame looking in, and North would remain a "Fox News Contributor," and that's it.

I was going for irony but as I said above I'm about 1/4 of the way through the first cup of coffee of the day.

Pete always bet on the Reds except when certain pitchers were playing and he
did not bet those games and that let the mob know when to bet against the Reds.

The same team that Pete managed didn't do a thing but the season after he was fired
they won the World's Series.

Pete's treatment of Bart Giamatti was shameful.

Pete will get into the Hall of Fame after he dies because of how he acted during his life.
