Four children among seven dead in mass Western Australia shooting tragedy

Four children are among seven people dead in a suspected mass murder-suicide near Margaret River, in Western Australia's south-west.

The bodies were found on a rural property in Osmington, about 20 kilometres north-east of Margaret River, just after 5.15am (local time).

The well-kept property belonged to Peter and Cynda Miles, who were well known and respected in the Margaret River community.

There were 338 hospitalised cases in 2013–14 and 209
deaths in 2012–13 as a result of firearm-related injuries.
The age-adjusted rates were 1.5 hospitalised cases
per 100,000 population and 0.9 deaths per 100,000
population, respectively.

Another red flag:
Their daughter Katrina Miles also lived at the property, where it's believed she home schooled her four young children.

One of the Hart’s daughters Abigail, then 6 years old, told her teacher that she had “owies” on her tummy and back, according to a complaint filed in Minnesota. The teacher said she saw bruises on her stomach and back. Abigail then told her teacher, “mom hit me.”

According to the Oregonian, after the court case was resolved, the mothers pulled all six of their children from public school in Minnesota and began homeschooling them. The family continued to homeschool after moving to Oregon and then Washington.
