Ask the people in Biloxi that survived Camille, 200+mph winds and a 27 foot surge.

You have days to prepare or evacuate. In my opinion hurricanes are nothing compared with tornadoes and earthquakes. I've lived through so many, they don't scare me anymore.

You haven't seen a Cat 5. The intensity level is completely different between a 3 or 4 and a 5. It's like the difference between a F2 and a F5 tornado.
I've been in earthquakes, tornados, floods, fires and even volcanic eruption. I know when it's time to run.

I had a friend who always said..."Ah...it's only wind and rain, nothing to see here." Then I got a frantic call after Wilma passed; she and her husband were trapped in their townhouse. Nearly all the trees in her yard had been blown down and were blocking all exits from their place. Took neighbors and firefighters two hours to chainsaw through the downed tress to clear a path to rescue them and their cats.

Party on, dude!

We were without power for 2 weeks, eating canned food. Again, we were ready for it. People need to be prepared and take reeponsability for their own safety. I happen to like storms a lot , you get to see the real power of nature, and you DO have time to prepare. Like I said, another hurricane party coming up!

Independence party. Forecasts say whatever will hit us will hit us on Independence Day - Monday August 6 - that is one party we want to celebrate but we may be lucky - again as it may go well south of us as a TS.
