Black Oakland Electric Slides on Racism by Throwing Big Ass Cookout in Park Where White Lady Called Cops

What’s the best way to deal with pervasive, persistent and blood-pressure rising racism on the daily, as well as give a big fat fuck you to gentrification and the criminalization of black folks? Why throw a cookout, of course!

In a pointed response to a recent incident where a white woman thought it her civic duty to call the police on a few black couples using a grill in a public park, the melanated masses of Oakland threw their own party at that very same site, Lake Merritt Park.

As evidenced by social media posts, the people of the Yay got real Negroid, doing the Electric Slide to “Before I Let Go,” eating seasoned grill meats, and surely munching on somebody’s potato salad sans raisins.

Well, it is, but it's not a "white people" thing, it's a "there are these people, mostly white, that like to try different things because they're different." http://www.oliviascuisine.com/creamy-potato-salad-with-apples-raisins-and-walnuts/ I still think of them as yuppies, and I've known blacks and Latinos and Asians doing the same kinds of things. "I'll make iced tea, but I'll have my with tobiko" or "I'll have a coconut-milk shake, but I want mine made with 84% cacao pieces in it and wasabi-sriracha whipped almond-cream." Blech.

Then again, I just went to a Asian/Texan fusion-cuisine restaurant. French fries as appetizer, with Korean BBQ, kimchi, etc., on them. Or BBQ brisket sushi. Usual assortment of ribs and traditional sushi, with all kinds of things in between. Oddly, not a single black person in the place. Unless you count some of the wait staff. So perhaps "not a single black patron in the place" would have been a better way of putting it.
