The guns were sold to those who opposed the Iranian government and backed US interests in Iran.

Never forget who overthrew the Iranian government in 1953 and imposed a fake monarch on the country.
The US and more than a few Western allies are still trying to steal Iranian oil.

That said Oliver North is a criminal who should be behind bars. He has never supported democracy anywhere.
