A Christian preacher terrorized a movie audience by screaming about God and a passage to heaven during a screening of the new film Avengers: Infinity War.
According to multiple reports, Michael Webber, a 28-year-old preacher with Truth and Triumph Ministries, sent a movie audience into a panic after beginning to scream about God and heaven towards the end of the movie screening at the Harkins Mountain Grove 16 theater in Redlands, California, on Friday night.
CBS News reports:
Armed officers rushed to the Harkins Mountain Grove 16 theaters in Redlands, where people had just finished watching the latest installment of the Avengers franchise, fearing there might a gunman inside. Witnesses said when the movie was over, a man stood up and started yelling in what sounded like a preachers sermon.
Susie Arias told CBS News:
I think when he said, If you were to die tonight, would your passage to heaven be guaranteed? something along those lines I think thats when people started panicking.
Arias said that the preachers screaming sent audience members into a panic, with many people yelling and running for their lives, believing that Webber was a terrorist.
Commenting on the scene, witness Adrian Arias said:
Thats when the kind of chaos happened in the little exit, where people were jumping over the railings, and kind of falling over, twisting their ankles and hitting their head.
The Daily News reports at least two people were seriously injured trying to escape the deranged preachers out of control rant about death and dying.

Michael Ray Webber, 28, got out of his seat at the end of the movie on Thursday
He threw his hands in the air and started preaching about God as others fled
One terrified woman jumped over the railings of a balcony and fell 20ft
She was trampled by others who desperately tried to escape as Webber spoke
It led to false police reports that '30 to 40' shots had been fired inside
Webber said he was confused by all the fuss and that he regularly preaches at the end of movies
The incident unfolded at 10pm at the Redlands Harkins Theater in San Bernardino, California
Webber was confused by the crowd's reaction and said he intentionally held his hands up to show that he was not armed.
He said he regularly preaches about God during film screenings and did not know why this time in particular caused panic, Mercury News reported.
He was arrested at the scene and police later checked his home to determine if he was a threat.
Webber was arrested for 'offensive language likely to cause a violent reaction'.

People are more likely to stay through the credits for Avengers films since they have post credit scenes. Scummy guy knew exactly what he was doing.

(50,555 posts)I can just imagine what would have happened if he'd have done it in Oklahoma...
"Mr. Smith, please explain to the jury what happened the night of May 12, 2018, when you were at the Roxy Theater."
'Yes, Mrs. Prosecutor. Me and Annie - Annie's my wife, she's right over there - go to the movies every Saturday night. Well, we're sitting in the theater watching this movie, and enjoying ourselves thoroughly, when this little wormy-lookin' guy gets up and starts screaming about Jesus and if we were sure we were going to heaven if we died right now. Everyone in the theater started acting like this guy was going to commit a mass shooting right then and there. Ma'am, I consider myself a good, God-fearing man. I have no doubt that if I died right now I would go to heaven...but I am not in a rush to get there, if you know what I mean. So I drew my concealed pistol and ended the threat.'
"Mr. Smith, please also explain to the jury why you shot Mr. Webber 90 times."
'Ma'am, I was just making sure.'

(13,421 posts)Can't say I'd mourn overmuch if he did. He needs to be charged and convicted on a count of endangerment for EVERY person present in that theater. F***ing asshat.
I really hate these people.

(15,805 posts)Then charge him, put him on trial, convict him and lock him up. Every person in that theater who was injured, terrorized and panicked because of this nutters crazy idea of proselytizing should sue him and his fake church for every penny they can get. He should have been banned and never allowed to keep returning to the theater after the first time he disrupted the show for all the other movie goers.
