"A Southern Baptist pastor who once called Mormonism a cult, said Jews were going to hell, and that Catholicism was the genius of Satan has been picked by the Trump administration to lead the prayer for the new US embassy in Jerusalem.
Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, who is himself a Mormon, is leading the chorus of criticism against 'religious bigot' Robert Jeffress, who will speak in front of Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner on Monday.
In a tweet Sunday night, the former Massachusetts governor who is now running for a Senate seat from Utah criticized Jeffress for his remarks about Jews, Mormons and Islam.
Romney said, Robert Jeffress says you can't be saved by being a Jew, and Mormonism is a heresy from the pit of hell. He's said the same about Islam."

Jared and Ivanka recieve a blessing from Sephardic Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef
Chief rabbi calls black people monkeys (20 March 2018)
<snip>
"The Sephardic chief rabbi of Israel called black people monkeys during his weekly sermon on Saturday evening.
Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef was addressing Jewish legal aspects of the blessing on seeing fruit trees blossoming, during the current Hebrew month of Nissan, and, specifically, whether one should bless one tree or at least two.
In that context, he mentioned a blessing uttered upon seeing an unusual creature, citing the example of encountering a black person who has two white parents on the street in America.
In footage aired by the Ynet news site, Yosef could be seen referring to black people by the word kushi, which in modern Hebrew has pejorative connotations, and then going on to term a black person a monkey.
His office told Ynet that the comparison was a quote from the Talmud."

(15,192 posts)to replay quotes from these pastors and rabbis 24/7/365...but hey, Hate Radio is NOT a problem.
We should praise our major universities that broadcast their sporting events on radio stations that provide nothing but hate and right-wing filth.

(9,086 posts)Mitt Romney calling out Preacher Jeffress as a bigot? Im amazed by his behavior. Most LDSers seem to have a habit of remaining as silent and inert as bean-bag chairs whenever Baptists and other Evangelicals trash them. The Evangelicals whack them, they shift a little, but otherwise remain stationary.
Im surprised that it has taken this long for any prominent Mormon to denounce the Christian Rights bigotry towards them. Many Evangelical sects have been hurling abuse at the Saints FOR YEARS, and some Evangelical big-mouths have hinted at plans to crack down on non-Christians if they ever got control of the government. Many Evangelicals have been explicit about their views that they dont consider Mormons to be Christians. Considering the Mormons persecutions in the 19th century, I used to wonder how many times they had to be whacked over the head with a stick before they wised up.
Id say that it looks like either Mittens has either woken up and smelled the hot water (I believe that good Mormons arent supposed to drink coffee) or hes running for Senate, or both.

"Tens of thousands of Palestinians are protesting the opening of the new U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem, and Israeli army forces have killed 52 protesters, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. The ministry also says some 2,400 people have been hurt in demonstrations and clashes.
More than 35,000 people are protesting along the Gaza border, the Israel Defense Forces say. The army says it killed three protesters who were trying to set a bomb next to the security fence in Rafah. It's the most deaths in one day the area has seen since the summer of 2014, when more than 2,000 Palestinians died.
The number of casualties rose steadily on Monday, as the opening of the American embassy at 4 p.m. local time (9 a.m. ET) neared. The health ministry published a list of the dead, showing that their ages ranged from 14 to 39 years old."

"'A great day for Israel!" President Trump tweeted on Monday. He also told his followers to watch Fox News for coverage of the embassy's opening."
