Gas prices rise to levels not seen in more than 3 years

Gas prices rise to levels not seen in more than 3 years
By MEG OLIVER CBS NEWS May 13, 2018, 8:06 PM

SECAUCUS, N.J. -- You may have noticed, gas prices are on the rise and hitting levels not seen in more than three years. Gas prices nationwide are up a nickel in just the last week. That's 20 cents in the last month, according to AAA.

Drivers fueling up in New Jersey are paying just under $3 for a gallon of regular unleaded.

"It was $54.16 for 18 gallons, and I just paid $40 for 13 gallons," Damian Woo told CBS News.

In California and Hawaii, gas prices are approaching $3.70 a gallon, nearly a dollar higher than the national average.

"There are 10 states that are at $3 a gallon or above," AAA's Robert Sinclair said

But this is one situation where there is a direct correlation between Trump pulling out of the Iran deal, and gas prices spiking. The prices jumped almost immediately after he exited the deal.

And it's no joke. I make sure to fill up a bit down the road so I don't have to buy gas in this county.

What's really sucking? We are a port state AND a refinery state. We also implemented a gas tax last year.

And for the rest of America - remember - we are a major port state. Sooner or later it's not just going to hit the pumps - it's going to hit all of the trucks running west on Routes 80 and 78 and up and down I-95.

It's only a matter of time.

Our supply chain team has pivoted and readjusted for this change and this year we are writing it off as expense (both imports and exports).

Next year - calling Mr. Otis - our prices are going up.

And yes - the owner here is a Democratic Party Member and Immigrant who hires manufacturing (more than 700 people).

Bad times indeed.

for a behavioral change that would move us away from car-centered development and a culture based on cheap fossil fuel, but that’s not gonna happen until it’s way too late.

... to change gas prices ? And how every big change in gas prices was some kind of conspiracy to help Dems win the next election ?

Well, now that 45 has the lever, suddenly that whole topic's gone away.

Now you hear silence from the right wing propaganda organs like Fox and hate radio about exploding gas prices.
