(268,866 posts)Obama's wife, children and relatives who all descended from Falmouth Kearney who migrated to the US in 1850.

<snip>
During the eighteenth century, a wigmaker in Ireland could expect to have a prosperous career. Wigs were popular among the aristocracy, and useful in a pre-shampoo era. But the eighteen-hundreds brought a cold reappraisal of artificial hair. In the tiny village of Moneygall, on the border of Offaly and Tipperary, the Kearney family turned to shoemaking. By the arrival of the Great Famine, theyd joined millions of fellow-citizens who were hungry for a restart. When, in 1850, the Kearney family learned that a relative in America had bequeathed them a parcel of land, Falmouth Kearney, then nineteen years old, set out from his twelve-and-a-half-foot-wide house for Liverpool. There, he boarded a New York-bound coffin ship, so named for the high mortality rate among passengers. From New York, Kearney, an intense-looking man with a pressed-down mat of dark hair, made his way to Ohio, and married an Ohio woman named Charlotte Holloway. They had children and resettled, eventually, in Indiana, where Kearney worked as a farmer. Their youngest daughter had children of her own, and those children had children, and those children had children. One of the little Irish babies was Barack Obama.
---------------
I do not plan to forget.
The Irish roots of Americas first African-American President have a way of registering perpetually as a news flash. But it was back in 2007 that the world, and Obama himself, first learned about great-great-great-grandfather Falmouth.
And it would be almost half a century before a single Trump set foot on U.S. soil, yet the relatively newbie felt entitled to attack Obama and his family.
Last year he opposed the removal of beautiful confederate statues from our towns and cities. "Sad to see the history and culture of our great country being ripped apart with the removal of our beautiful statues and monuments." It was a history and culture that not a single Trump ancestor was part of or any other American war for that matter. That doesn't stop him from belittling President Obama or Senator John McCain.
Trump's family does not appear to have contributed much of anything to the country he feels entitled and qualified to lead. He sure does love slapping his name all over everything though.

(4,750 posts)Because if it was after 1850, and considering that Chump's mother came from Scotland, it looks like both President and First Lady Obama's families have been here longer than Chump's.
Normally, the time a family has been here would be irrelevant to me. I, like so many Americans, have immigrants on my family tree.
But it chaps my ass to think of Donny and his questionably naturalized wife, with her "chain-migrated" (their term) sister, mother, and father, questioning President Obama's citizenship.

I suspect having the kidney problem was no picnic to begin with. But I have a hard time extending sympathy to Mrs. Birtherism.

(34,135 posts)They gave me a brochure which I read but I don't remember much. I remember the picture looked a little like this one:
Collagen Plug Closure System
The Angio-Seal vascular closure device is manufactured and marketed by St Jude Medical, Incorporated, in St Paul, Minnesota. The models available include Angio-Seal VIP Platform, Angio-Seal STS Plus Platform, and Angio-Seal STS Platform. The main difference among them is the range in size of the anchor that holds the collagen plug in place in the arteriotomy incision.
The Angio-Seal device is made up of 3 components: a specially designed polymer anchor, an absorbable collagen sponge, and an absorbable self-tightening suture. All 3 components dissolve in 60 to 90 days. The sponge is positioned in the puncture track outside the artery wall by a pulley system created by the anchor and suture. The device seals and sandwiches the arteriotomy between the anchor and the collagen plug. The collagen not only acts as a plug at the puncture site but has coagulation-inducing properties that aid in hemostasis (Figure 2 ⇓ .

I had to stay lying flat for four hours to make sure the artery would not leak. Between needing to pee and my back spasming, that was the worst part of my aortic valve replacement!

(61,692 posts)There are new devices available now, but four hours is still a dreadfully long time. I'm surprised they did not give you a urinary catheter just for comfort's sake, given how determined they are to keep you flat for so long.
csziggy
(34,135 posts)They didn't want to put in a urinary catheter because of the chances of infection. Since I was already scheduled five weeks later to have a kidney removed, they did not want any complications for that!

(14,528 posts)what they say it is. The procedure they say she had done is at most a 1 night stay. She will be in there until Friday. I had a c section and was pushed out in less than 48 hours.
She may have had that done, but she also had something else done at the same time.
In her position, she could come home the next day and have a Navy RN at her bedside 24/7, plus the WH staff to cater to her.
Rorey
(8,445 posts)I agree completely with you.
And if it turns out that she really does have a serious health issue, I won't feel one bit guilty for my suspicions. The entire family is despicable.

Hmm... A Slovenian-born and raised asking an American President to show his birth certificate to prove he is American?!! How crazy is that? We know America has lost its way, but not to this extent...

(32,658 posts)when ever some idiot talked bad about Obama. I'd call them a racist to their face and tell them " you don't like President Obama because he is half Irish, well I'm half Irish too. What you gonna do about it?"
No one ever had a reply, they just stood there and looked stupid. I think I got away with it because I'm a big guy.
