The volcano has been "awake" for a long time. I recall a Tony Bourdain No Reservations from 2007 or 2008 when he visited a guy who lived there even though his B and B was in the middle of it all...very desolate. Pretty soon after filming the episode the local authorities made the man move for his own safety. He had built his home himself 23 years earlier and wouldn't leave until he was forced to.

Down here people face problems with "hurricane" insurance, cause "acts of god" and "flooding" are not covered. And of course hurricanes have those elements.
One could argue all weather is an act of god.

and argue that atheists are being discriminated against.

my son and I were talking about it.

That's too bad about having trouble with hurricane insurance because of "flooding".. it's all about Mother Nature.

We can get hurricane insurance here in Hawaii. I imagine you'd have to have all the latest hurricane prevention codes up to date, though.

When a Huge Hurricane hit on 9/11/02 on Kauai.. there was no flooding just Cat 4 Winds all day long!

I guess I always imagined something that would destroy my world would rage in and destroy in seconds.

Here destruction is slow, almost methodical. No one can stop it. Inevitable.

It seems to be alive.
