but I definitely had a strong emotional reaction to the cartoon. Good work in picking these out!

29. That "dude" is Keith Knight.

One of the most intelligent, insightful and talented cartoonists working today. My favorite is his th(ink) series. His wit is biting, but always right on. I have the entire series.

And no matter when you were born in Germany, you KNOW your WWII history. Textbooks there are factual and honest, not like over here. They do not re-write their history to fuzzy up the facts, and smooth over the ugly acts of men. In this country, children are now being taught that slavery - one of the darkest stains on this nation's history (and still being fought over by racists in the south who just will not accept that they LOST the (un)civil(ized) war) - wasn't the murderous, vulgar privilege of rich elite southern whites trying to maintain their wealth, power and control by treating human beings like chattel.

Or in Japan, where the atrocities of war are written right out of history books altogether to the point where their children are completely ignorant of what occurred during the WWII. They have done the same re-write of Japanese history regarding the Rape of Nanking, the invasion of Manchuria, the outright slaughter of the Chinese.
