Something that was a repeated line while I was in business school...

Think about each decision you are about to make as if it was going to be plastered across the front page of every newspaper in the country.

This is a good thought exercise professionally and personally. Once one realizes what they are doing or saying isn't something they want on the front of papers, it requires at least a brief moment of self-reflection. Of course that can be quickly followed by justification and projection but it is still a good exercise to be in the habit of.

headlines. Heck for some, all bad publicity seems fine with their supporters.

I covered projection.

Come on. Gotta admit that's funny.

Still, it's a practice about self.

The long term repercussions would include one maintaining personal integrity, character, and trust among those they are associated with.

I don’t gloss over that. It’s an enormous problem and is taught as well. Not necessarily quick profits. More profit maximization. Limiting accountability is also big. Its a part of limiting liability.

I’m very lucky to be able to do business with mainly small locally owned companies. The business relationships we build help us all.

We tell lawyers at my firm that they should re-read each e-mail that they send and think how that e-mail would look in a lawsuit. This is merely a restatement of the concept described in the OP

which is lacking beyond greed. There is now republican consensus that lying, greed, and whatever it takes to make more money is acceptable. They are proud of their corruption.
What are promotions in business based upon? The bottom line - short term.

I am guessing your business education preceded the Bill Gates period. He has become the pinnacle, which is not to say he is corrupt but that his riches are the goal.
