Returning item while black at Hobby Lobby

https://www.theroot.com/white-hobby-lobby-manager-calls-police-on-black-custome-1826072557

“When I gave her [the cashier] the machine, she told me that she needed to check with the manager to see if the item was returnable,” Spurlock told The Root, apparently unaware that white women always need to speak to the manager. “The manager said she would have to check with corporate.”

The cashier returned to Spurlock and told him the manager was calling the store’s corporate office, as if Hobby Lobby has a staff of operators on standby waiting to approve trinket returns. The manager asked Spurlock to step aside and wait while she called Hobby Lobby’s Cricut Emergency Return Squad.

Hobby Lobby Laura was not calling “corporate.”

She was calling the police.

Or was it that he resembled someone who might have returned stolen items? Or was it that he was trespassing?

One of those reasons must be the correct one because it certainly can't be as simple as him being black.

I am a white man between the ages of 30 and 40.

I went into a Walmart yesterday with a bottle of engine oil and no receipt.

The nice lady at the door waved me on through to go to the customer service desk, where they told me to go grab another bottle (for exchange).

I then walked through the cash register line with the new bottle of oil, with no one looking askance even though I clearly wasn't paying for it.

This at a store where there are regular police patrols (even though it's not a bad area).

No. Not really. Their theft of Iraqi artifacts and insistence on shoving their religious bullshit down the throats of the rest of the country are more than sufficient for that. But, this is beyond sickening.
