Although it's somewhat amusing.

Far too many Americans are world class monolinguals and are irrationally afraid of anyone who knows another language.

I live in New Mexico where I routinely hear Spanish anytime I go to a store or restaurant. What impresses me the most is how other people immediately know which language to use when waiting on someone new.
