and NRA apologists will be along shortly to gunsplain that school shootings are rare, and that the occasional gun fatality is just the price we must pay for the freedom to shoot each other, and the liberty to resist tyranny by a Liberal government.

when you see someone who goes grocery shopping with his gun strapped to his side. I saw one of these idiots in the supermarket the other day. I think that people that do this are afflicted with a mental complex. I felt like telling him that the beef was already dead.

The pressure cooker of modern day adolescence combined with lacking mental health care is the biggest factor.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely want safe storage laws, purchase controls, red flag laws, and raising the purchase age. These are common sense ideas even most gunners can agree to. They make us safer without the constitutional issues of taking people's property. But overall we need to look at the bigger picture of why more and more people are choosing to throw away their lives and attack others.

Our society is not well, we are stressed, pressured, and miserable. The middle class is decaying, the poor forgotten; and young adults facing a daunting uphill struggle to meet even the standard of living their parents enjoyed. We need to fix our societal and economic ills, and we will see benefits in fewer killings and less drug abuse. Give people something to live for and a helping hand to those in need, and they will be far less likely to fall into despair and lash out.

they have the money to buy guns. An AR-15 costs 100's of dollars. Or more. And ammo is close to $10.00 for 20 rounds (quick Google for cheapest prices)

Also, drugs, meth supplies, and all the other crap that is destroying this country.

Our country is a war zone and nobody seems to realize it.

Even some of the MEN who wrote and passed the Second Amendment may have personally known someone with mental health issues. It probably never occurred to them that those mental cases could easily pose a deadly threat to the general public because...single-shot muskets. I'd be curious to know what the "murder by gun" rate was in 1791.

Perpetual insanity.

then let them get creative. Let's make it harder for them, not easier.

There are a very small but sensible number of gun supporters who would like to have a national permit with strict criteria for who can buy guns including mental health and stuff like DUIs and domestic violence. Of course others oppose this because they think it's a slippery slope to their wildest conspiracy theories.

Don't get me wrong, please, hate on the NRA; they deserve it. But...

Ask yourself, how much money would YOU take to pass gun laws that killed 10s of thousands of Americans annually?

A million?

10 million?

Or, is there no amount you'd trade your soul for?

I say this, because these politicians, they're not being FORCED to take money or vote for these bills. And you WOULDN'T.

If Congress was made up of honest people, the NRA couldn't bribe them. Their main tool is money and PR. Honest people would be able to stand up to them.

And of course, kill the NRA and the NGRA or NGA will show up and replace them overnight. To protect gun manufacturer profits.

So, it's not the NRA, it's the corrupt politicians.
