The NRA needs to be destroyed.

It serves no legitimate or good purpose. Raze it to the ground. If people "need" a gun group, then create a group whose sole purpose is to foster responsible gun ownership with strict laws to back up that ownership.

But if enough people decided they will not vote for NRA supported candidates, we would come a long way toward defanging this monster organization.

Probably The Second Amendment Foundation. The Gun Culture in this country is hydra-headed. You would have to Repeal the Second Amendment, and then the same states who support Gun Ownership will still have guns in their states. The young people are the correct track. We have failed, it is now up to them.

...but if it weren't for the NRA they wouldn't have access to some of the guns their currently own or want to own.

And that is the dilemma for many gun owners.

Otherwise they are just another single-issue political group, but one with a lot of money behind them and the power to mobilize voters in Republican primaries.

Even if you got money out of politics, the NRA could still control congress through primary votes.
