@realDonaldTrump
America is blessed with extraordinary energy abundance, including more than 250 years worth of beautiful clean coal. We have ended the war on coal, and will continue to work to promote American energy dominance!

(31,011 posts)I mean, they've been going green like crazy. Even here in NE TN with all the coal lovers, Eastman Chemical started going green a few years back. They figured out that it saves them a lot more money. Plus they quit polluting the Holston River and the town doesn't smell like rotten eggs anymore. When they made the announcement, a lot of RW pinheads exploded over it.

(31,261 posts)Trump can spin all the fairy tales that he wants, in the end, it all comes down to dollars and cents. By not using coal or fuel oil, companies save big on several key cost categories, transport, storage, maintenance costs, average per month operating time, and effluent and solid waste abatement. For a big operator, the value of those savings can run up to $20-$30 million dollars per month, that is cash that goes directly to the bottom line, sans taxes.

(11,726 posts)There is no such thing as clean coal. It was really stupid of previous administrations to ever buy into the concept of "clean coal". Certainly there are ways to decrease the impact of coal on the environment, but to call coal "clean" in any way, is like saying that Ebola is a benign virus.
Once again, Trump is an idiot.

(1,822 posts)the people that think that coal and oil are the future of American energy. No one is hiring in the col industry. Maybe he doesnt have the regulations that Obama did, but its not changing the industry at all. Its a dying industry.

(38,414 posts)It wasn't the fog, it was the coal in the air...that couldn't be moved..and piled up..
If you look at some of this link, you will learn enough to see that Trump is much stupider than you thought

Also, those deaths from that event, eventually brought about clean air laws, and did help that from happening again.. I personally recall that when I grew up, we had to change our coal furnace, to a cleaner burning oil furnace..Now..everyone in Chicago had a couple of years to do this. But everyone had to convert their furnace. Why? I wasn't told about the event in London, but I am sure that is the reason. Chicago was very proud of burning coal, because Illinois was one of the leading producers of "soft coal" in the country. Lots of coal mines. So Illinois stopped producing soft coal over a period of years.
