(8,203 posts)Ya - please proceed - "means something" - calling in the top "two" heads of the FBI" - "these particular groups" - you mean those two heads who keep the USS Rule of LAW, America's ship on course - safe???

(58,785 posts)My guess is that's probably only sensible and even effectively necessary to do in view of the dangerous lies the right is being supersaturated with. No prob, Mr. Trump.
Given the DoJ's oversight of the FBI, they could probably finalize and upload a report this afternoon, this week at the latest, but they'll reinvestigate as part of going through the motions.
This comes in response to President Trumps tweet that he will officially demand that the Justice Department investigate whether the department or the FBI infiltrated or surveilled the Trump Campaign for Political Purposes, including whether this occurred at the direction of anyone in the Obama administration.
The move by the Justice Department which was undertaken at the order of Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein is meant to temporarily mollify Trump in the face of what is a dramatic escalation of his ongoing effort to delegitimize special counsel Robert S. Mueller IIIs investigation.
It's meant to avoid a serious confrontation, of course, while the real investigation continues.

(217 posts)It is important to get the little stories along with the gist, to better understand. Life often gets in the way of spending the time to really pay attention. And Trump does put on a show. This is another level, I think with a nation of responsible adults that can speak out. While, 2018 gets closer and closer and the Democratic Party is strong.

(13,522 posts)From January:
Attorney General Jeff Sessions at the public urging of President Donald Trump has been pressuring FBI Director Christopher Wray to fire Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, but Wray threatened to resign if McCabe was removed, according to three sources with direct knowledge.

May 16:
FBI Director Christopher Wray said Wednesday that hes deeply concerned about foreign companies like ZTE gaining access to the U.S. telecommunications network, days after President Donald Trump sparked controversy by expressing a willingness to save the Chinese phone-maker.
Wray told lawmakers at a Senate Appropriations subcommittee hearing that he wouldnt comment publicly on a specific company but we at the FBI remain deeply concerned that any company beholden to foreign governments that dont share our values are not companies that we want to be gaining positions of power inside our telecommunications network.

Also May 16:
The day that we can't protect human sources is the day the American people start becoming less safe," Wray told members of the Senate Appropriations Committee. "Human sources in particular who put themselves at great risk to work with us and with our foreign partners have to be able to trust that we're going to protect their identities and in many cases their lives and the lives of their families."

(52,115 posts)but when donnie himself (not his spouse) uses the powers of his office (they're meeting in his office, literally) to talk with two key people who are involved in an ongoing investigation of him and his cronies, oh, that's just peachy.
as far as anyone knows, bill clinton (not hillary) talked to loretta lynch about nothing related to any investigation, but donnie of course went on a lock her up screed.
but when donnie does it, of course he's in the right and everyone else... oh look, he thinks everyone else should be locked up again!
see how that works? no matter which side of a topic he's on, it's always the other side who should be locked up....

(9,670 posts)The brinksmanship of corruption has completely defined this administration from inauguration day forward. All they do is lie, distort, deflect and lie some more. Meanwhile, the rule of law toils away in the shadows, never defending itself, simply doing its business while the most visible and powerful government official systemically attempts to destroy the institutions it represents.
