by Ken Meyer | 8:13 am, May 22nd, 2018
Joe Scarborough teamed up with Mike Barnicle on Tuesday in order to denounce President Trump and the GOP for distracting America from Russias breach of the countrys national security.
Morning Joe today took on Trumps demand for a Department of Justice investigation into whether his 2016 campaign was infiltrated by the FBI. Scarborough kicked off by calling on House Speaker Paul Ryan to stand up to Republican congressmen Devin Nunes and Mark Meadows for their attempts to subvert the Russia investigation and destroy the GOP.
Were just asking Paul Ryan to pick up the phone and go, Hey, Devin, listen, youre my buddy, youve been loyal to me, I understand, but youve stepped over the line here, Scarborough said. Mark Meadows, youve stepped over the line. You want to take me on, you want to divide our party before I leave? We can do that, but youre going to lose. Youll have the votes in the short run, but youre going to destroy the Republican Party.
Barnicle criticized members of the House Freedom Caucus for attacking the conduct of Americas intelligence agencies while declining to acknowledge the evidence that Russians were messing with the countrys core foundations.
Theyve never mentioned the fact that we were victims of an act of war, Barnicle said.

(6,399 posts)And I'm no fan of Joe, but I watch the first 30 minutes or so during breakfast. It's an interesting view into some small c conservative views of things and a significant break from those that are in office. The guests tend to be pretty decent and interesting and a welcome contrast to how Fox handles conservative stuff.
I'm ideologically opposed to Joe and his "upbringing" has him anti-clinton to be sure, but he's been taking Republicans to task for well over a year now (buyers remorse, sure) and is able to throw things at those like Ryan better than others because of his own past as a house elected representative.
Just going "oh fuck joe" doesn't do anything. He's a useful tool in the fight.

(6,399 posts)Not just writing the other side off entirely. We're never going to get back to norms if we don't look for areas to work with. And this is one where we definitely need that. It can't be an entirely one-sided affair to remove Trump.

(15,543 posts)All 17 US Intelligence agencies agree that russia engaged in acts of war against America and American democracy. In response, republicans decided to go golfing with their financing billionaire buddies, and suck down cocktails with the casino set.
What weasley unpatriotic cowards the republicans have become.
