Is there any way we can evaluate how far back Trump has taken this country, so far?

It is obvious that he has taken this country backwards with nearly every action he has taken. I can't think of any that I was happy to see and that is probably because they were progressive ideas pushed through by Obama that he repealed.

He has ruined our image in the world to the point no country will enter into agreements with us anymore. Even our strongest allies. Would you? He has made us a laughing stock.

We don't know the details of what is going on behind the curtains on negotiations with other countries, as well as negotiations with Republicans to get laws passed. How much money is changing hands to keep from embarrassing Trump if his bills don't pass? I'm sure we've bought favorable outcomes with military equipment or money under the table to leaders. Trump understands the importance of that little action, since he seems to be partaking of it for himself and his family.

On the local front, he has decimated assistance for the poor, children and the elderly. What he hasn't done, the red states have. He is in the process of putting farmers back in the 70-80s by taking some of their largest customers away with high tariffs. He doesn't look into the future to see how his decisions will affect different factions of the country. Tariffs on steel have added 30% to building supplies, such as steel roofing. Bids were already let on many new building projects. Those are just a few things I can pull off the top of my head, but I know there are tons of other ways he has hurt the common worker/contractor/farmer.

We can't afford to have Trump in office beyond 2018. We can't wait until 2020.

1. The GOP needs a new name. IMO it's now clear they are working to install Trump as a dictator.

It's incredible how the GOP has failed the country. If congress remains GOP controlled beyond 2018, the country IMO has fallen into a dictatorship. So many things are being undone in so many areas, out of sight, out of mind by the general populace. And many Americans IMO are still clueless, falling for all of the talking points and skewed media sources.

The Republicans haven't worked for the country for a decade, at least, and actually worked against it all the time Obama was in office. Their main goal is to raise money and they've managed to set up their fundraising methods so that we don't have a clue where the majority of their funds come from. Citizens United was the beginning of disaster regarding fund raising.

Just getting rid of Ryan and McConnell would be an improvement. They seem to have a steel hold on most Republicans and refuse to let go. How long has it been when Congress has sat down and had a decent debate on issues? They just have the bills written up by some Koch group, stick it in the Democrats' faces and say, "Sign!" Congress died a decade ago.

3. If the dems don't gain control of at least one chamber of Congress this November,

I don't think we'll come back from this. Not in a long time. The damage done already is staggering. McConnell recently bragged that he's making "generational changes" to the judiciary. Trump supporters are a lot like Trump–they will double down on him before they ever admit they made a mistake. My non-political friends all think that winning the House in November will solve all our problems. They are so naive. They think it can't happen here, even as it's happening before our eyes.

7. I heard a guy say that he voted for Trump because he liked what he had to say.

He promised to do what he wanted and has done them, so he's happy. The typical Republican attitude...me, me, me.

Unless you keep track each and every day...each and every hour, you can't keep up with what is happening. It is scary to turn your back for a second, as he demands something and the Republicans make it happen. He gets his jollies when he sees he has upset the Democrats and he knows he can do whatever he wants, as they can't do one damn thing to stop him.

He derives pleasure from inflicting pain & humiliation on others. I believe that a lot of his appeal is that he can be mean & nasty & he gets away with it. I believe a lot of his supporters wish they could behave as badly as he does & get away with it, too.

8. Exactly!!! That is the core problem with many voters, "They think it can't happen here, even as

it's happening before our eyes." I think the majority of the population only casually follows what it going on, because many IMO feel the country will just move along, business as usual. They just don't dig in deep enough to comprehend their form of government is being occupied and taken over by the GOP. The GOP will make all the rules, and then if SCOTUS has some new appointments, this country will be horrible. And then many will say, WTF, how did this happen.

He is undermining everything Pres. Obama did in 8 years and all the idiotic things he had in the 1 1/2 years he has been! Pathetic!
