I took time from working in the yard and went to town to vote just a bit ago.
I live in one of the reddest, Republican districts in all creation. Everyone was very polite and, as I always do, I grinned the whole time! I filled out my ballot for all Democrats and I feel great about my choices for local positions!
I saw quite a few very young people in line, which makes me have a little ray of hope in this backwards place.
My vote is but a sprinkle in our Blue Tsunami. But I am now officially a part of that tidal wave!
I'm definitely a liberal loner in my neck of the woods, but I'm proud to report a blue vote cast from deep red Arkansas!
As a side note, my brother is getting the care he needs and is getting placed in a "group home" where he has his own apartment and caretakers. There is a ray of hope in my day today! I just want to share my hope with you all today.

(34,136 posts)Maybe there will be more Blue votes than you expect - that would be wonderful!
And the news about your brother is fantastic - I hope this is what he needs to be better.

(11,343 posts)It's been a rough journey with my brother, but I hope he finds some inner peace in his new surroundings.
My vote was not just a democratic one. It was an emergency democratic ballot for hope, peace, and humanity. It seems to mean so much more this year.

(7,349 posts)Have some very good friends, all liberals, all in or around Hot Springs. Lived in that area from 1985-1990. Soooo beautiful up in those mountains by Jessieville! Miss it!

(11,343 posts)I take my son to dig for crystals at Coleman's mine about once a year. Next time I go, I'll let you know and maybe I can meet some cool new friends!

(7,349 posts)On the playground of Jessieville Elementary School (along with a ton of geodes) and went to school with some of the Coleman kids. We lived in the Village, have friends there and also in Royal... youre making me miss that area!

(11,343 posts)I went with some friends to dig a few years back. (Girls weekend)
We went to a little karaoke bar in the square
I, um, felt really brave after a couple shots of tequila and got up and rapped "guess who's back" by Eminem.
(With my hoodie over my head) I'm shy most of the time.

(62,406 posts)I voted early in our primary last week.
I love to go to our county auditor's office (Republican) and proudly ask for that Democratic ballot!

(11,343 posts)And focus on the good things in life. Voting locally is so important if we're going to change anything.
Even us rural folks can make a difference!!!

(11,343 posts)Voter turnout here has been pretty high this time. I'm hoping the numbers will show Democrats gaining. As red as it is here, there are two women running for state Senate (rep and dem). I think this is a good sign of where my community could be heading. In the Republican primary, the woman handily beat out a gun loon, misogynistic man.
Of course I voted for my awesome democrat, but there's hope for us hillfolk yet!

(11,343 posts)It's going to continue to be a long journey, but he doesn't seem to hate me anymore for helping him. He actually called to tell me thank you and that he loved me. Then he begged for me to come get him. He's sick, but he is getting support.
I'm going back to counseling myself soon. After all that's happened, a little mental tune-up might help me as well!

(16,646 posts)Melting snow can be a major contributor to rising rivers. I suspect after the last election, there are more than a few voters that skipped it last time, and are now ready to "melt and flow into the river".
