Hypothetical: Mr. X and Mr Y say Trump told them to tell Russia

"Yes, hack the election. Go forward with the Facebook smear of Hillary" (may be better example, sorry)

If Mueller interviews him, I suppose the question would be..."Did you ever talk to Mr. X and or Mr Y and tell them to go ahead with a Russian plan to infiltrate Facebook?"

Trump in interview: "No, never, I hardly know Mr X or Mr Y"

Trump in Impeachment trial: "No, never, I hardly know Mr X or Mr Y"

So bottom line, it's the difference between "whatever crime this is" (no interview strategy) and "whatever crime this is" + perjury (interview strategy)? And, perjury only if they have actual proof - like a tape of him telling him that? If no hard evidence, it would be a "he said - he said" deal, right? So if you end up being found guilty of the "whatever crime this is" - hell - what's the big deal about adding perjury?

Mueller will have Mr X and/or Mr Y and corroborating witnesses on hand to testify to exactly what Trump said to them.

Of course, an impeachment trial assumes that the House voted to impeach. That seems extremely unlikely at this moment.
